EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A person was taken into custody after a DPS pursuit ended in a crash early Thursday morning, Jan. 25 in Canutillo, according to a DPS spokesperson.

At around 3 a.m., a Texas DPS trooper tried to pull over a black Mazda that was reported stolen in El Paso. The driver of the stolen vehicle fled and a pursuit started.

DPS says the pursuit ended near La Mesa and 2nd Ave. in Canutillo when the driver crashed and hit a gas line.

The authorities immediately alerted the EMS, Fire, and the gas company, and evacuated the local residents.

DPS says there were no injuries and the driver was taken into custody.

The driver will be charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and evading, according to DPS.

No further information has been released. This story will be updated once we learn more.
