KTSM News – Dust, low visibility close roadways in Las Cruces, Deming area

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Roadways in the Las Cruces and Deming area are currently closed on Tuesday, March 18, due to blowing dust and low visibility, the New Mexico Department of Transportation said (NMDOT).

NMDOT said the following roadways are closed:

  • NM 549 is closed from milepost 0 (Deming) to milepost 31.
  • NM 11 is closed from milepost 32 (Dona Ana) to milepost 26 (Sunshine Road).
  • NM 180 is closed from milepost 164 (Deming) to milepost 131 (Hurley).
  • NM 26 is closed from milepost 0 (US 180 to NM 26 intersection) to milepost 44 (Hatch).
  • I-10 eastbound is closed at milepost 20 (Lordsburg). All traffic must shelter in place in Lordsburg.
  • I-10 westbound is closed at milepost 132 (Las Cruces Airport). All traffic must shelter in place in Lordsburg.
  • I-10 eastbound and westbound lanes are closed throughout Deming.

In addition, NMDOT said shelter-in-place locations are the Deming Learning Center, 5R Truck Stop, Deming Truck Stop, and Deming Soccer Fields.
