EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundation has been chosen as one of the recipients to a $25,000 grant to help improve the care and well-being of children patients.
The Toy Foundation (TTF) Children’s Hospital Play Grants program is distributing a total of $380,000 that is expected to support 240,000 children nationwide, according to the El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundation’s news release. In El Paso, the grant is estimated to help 2,500 children receiving hospital and outpatient care.
“We deeply appreciate the support provided by The Toy Foundation through this grant,” said Abigail Tarango, executive director at El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundation. “These funds enable us to bring joy to children as they receive care at El Paso Children’s Hospital.”
TTF’s program helps fill “play” needs to children patients in hospitals; a tool to help improve care, wellbeing and health outcomes of pediatric patients, the Children’s Hospital said.
“Play has a profound impact on a child’s healing journey, benefiting their physical, emotional, and educational wellbeing,” said Pamela Mastrota, executive director at The Toy Foundation. “We are pleased to support El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundation in providing the power of play to help their patients heal and thrive.”
According to the news release by the Children’s Hospital, the grant is focused on supporting hospitals in under-resourced communities, where 50 percent or more patients rely on Medicaid.
