EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 34-year-old man was arrested after attempting to escape from custody in far East El Paso, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPCSO).
EPCSO said Edgar Ivan Soto was booked into the El Paso County Jail on the following charges:
- Resist arrest, search or transport; $2,000 bond.
- Theft of property; $2,000 bond.
- Two charges of assault on a peace officer/judge; $10,000 bond.
- Escape from custody; $5,000 bond.

In addition, Soto had an active criminal warrant, issued by the El Paso Police Department, EPCSO said.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, at roughly 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, deputies were dispatched along the 3600 block of Krag Street about a reported domestic disturbance.
Soto was taken into custody, but while handcuffed, he attempted to flee, EPCSO said.
The Sheriff’s Office said there was a brief foot pursuit, but Soto was quickly apprehended.
“We are tough on crime,” said El Paso County Sheriff Oscar Ugarte. “If you run from us, we will catch you and take you to jail.”
