EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — An El Paso Fire Department lieutenant is facing charges for intoxication assault after crashing into a vehicle earlier this week in East El Paso, the Fire Department confirmed.
Lieutenant Manuel Esquivel Alvarez was arrested and charged with intoxication assault with a vehicle resulting in serious bodily injuries on Tuesday, Aug. 19, after crashing into a three-wheel vehicle and seriously injuring the driver on Gateway East near Lomaland.
Video that surfaced on social media shows the scene of the crash, where a blue Honda Civic is seen on top of the three-wheeled motorcycle.
Later, Alvarez was seen being placed into handcuffs and was transported to a local hospital in an ambulance.
Alvarez was charged and booked into the El Paso County Jail under a $15,000 bond. Jail records show that Alvarez was released from jail on Wednesday, Aug. 20, after posting bond.
The City of El Paso confirmed to KTSM that Alvarez remains employed.
