EL PASO, Texas (KTSM)—The El Paso Fire Department announced a new partnership to enhance emergency medical response capabilities within the community.
Air Methods and EPFD partnered in a five-year contract to establish Fire STAR (Shock and Trauma Air Rescue) to provide fast air medical transportation, according to the City of El Paso.
El Paso Fire Chief Jonathan Killings expressed the department’s unwavering commitment to the community, stating, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Air Methods to launch Fire STAR. This service will significantly enhance our ability to respond swiftly to emergencies and provide our community with the highest standard of care.”
According to the City, the partnership is expected to be ready by September 2024.
According to the City, Air Methods brings a wealth of experience in delivering critical care in emergencies. This partnership with EPFD is expected to significantly decrease response times and improve patient outcomes, particularly in situations where ‘every second counts.’
