EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso Fire Department’s Combined Search and Rescue (ComSAR) team assisted a group of hikers with two dogs on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 2 in the Franklin Mountains State Park, the department said.
The Fire Department said a group of five hikers and two dogs were near the Ron Coleman Trail, which can be accessed near the summit of Transmountain Road.
The hikers called for help getting back down as they had entered a ravine that was too rocky for them to navigate, a fire spokesperson said.
According to El Paso Fire, the group and dogs have been safely escorted off the mountain and no injuries have been reported.
The Ron Coleman Trail has four different access points within Franklin Mountain State Park and has been the scene of numerous rescue missions over the years.
