KTSM News – El Paso is the ‘cheapest place to retire in Texas’

Posted on March 26, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Retirees, welcome to your new home!

That’s the message the County of El Paso wants to share by highlighting a recent national article about the merits of retiring in El Paso.

El Paso has been recognized by TheTravel.com as the cheapest place to retire in Texas. The County sent out a news release highlighting the article.

According to the website, the cost of living in the Sun City is 15.88% less than the national average.

TheTravel.com site also highlights El Paso’s low crime rates, mild weather and lack of income tax.

“The sales tax in El Paso is even slightly lower than what other areas in Texas pay. It currently sits at 7.25%, while in El Paso County, some other cities and towns are paying as high as 8.25%. Just another reason why El Paso is the least expensive town in Texas,” read the article on El Paso on TheTravel.com.
