EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso ISD unveiled its first-ever eSports Lab Thursday morning, Aug. 28 at Guillen Middle School.
The district said this marked “a milestone in the district’s vision to expand innovative learning spaces.”

The state-of-the-art lab will allow students to engage in structured competitive gaming while also developing essential skills such as collaboration, communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking, the district said.
The initiative reflects the district’s commitment to providing 21st-century learning environments that prepare students for success in college, career, and life, EPISD said.
The project was developed in partnership between Guillen Middle School and El Paso ISD’s Information Security and Technology Department, which launched the eSports program with plans to expand it to other campuses in the future.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony included demonstrations led by students, showcasing how the lab blends gaming with learning to foster academic growth and technological exploration.
