EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso Police identified the person who died in a motorcycle crash last week in Northeast El Paso and said speed was a contributing factor.
Police say Tyler Jonathan Reardon, 22, was traveling westbound on a motorcycle on Transmountain in the left lane at a high rate of speed Saturday evening, Aug. 31.
Reardon lost control of the motorcycle and began to ride against the curb and traveled west onto the median, going over the rock landscape.
The motorcycle then went onto its side and skidded across the left lane before crashing into the rear of a vehicle that was stopped at a red light.
Police say Reardon was dislodged from the motorcycle and died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The driver and the passenger of the other vehicle were not injured. Police say speed is a contributing factor in this crash.
This is the 41st traffic fatality this year compared to 53 at this time in 2023.
