EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — An El Paso man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for sexually abusing multiple minors in Mexico, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office from the Western District of Texas.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says on Jan. 10, Enrique Ruvalcaba-Mendez, 71, was referred to secondary inspection at the Bridge of the Americas Port of Entry, and officers discovered that his phone contained several videos and photos of Ruvalcaba-Mendez engaged in sexual activity with minor females.
The investigation revealed that Ruvalcaba would travel to Ciudad Juárez, where he would pay to have sex with minors. He would videotape himself with the minors and save the videos on his phone, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Ruvalcaba-Mendez was found to have abused at least three minors in Mexico. He pleaded guilty in July and was sentenced last Wednesday, Sept. 24, to 20 years.
ICE Homeland Security Investigations and CBP investigated the case with assistance from the HSI
Assistant Attaché Office in Ciudad Juarez.
