EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Two people were arrested on Saturday, Feb. 15 after they were in possession of methamphetamine while they were at a Valero Gas station in East El Paso, according to El Paso Police.
Officers were patrolling that Saturday just before midnight at 11101 Gateway West when they saw Jodi Marie Schimek, 38, and Luis Alberto Cortes, 34, sitting in a vehicle at a Valero gas station parking lot that was in the area.


An officer then approached the vehicle and saw Schimek in the driver’s seat and a baggie of narcotics, police said.
Officers then requested a K-9 officer to the scene and ended up locating methamphetamine and pills that were suspected to be fentanyl, police said.
Officers also found drug paraphernalia on both Schimek and Cortes, police said. Both individuals were arrested and charged for possession of methamphetamine. They were booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
Both individuals face additional charges pending lab results of the suspected fentanyl pills, police said.
