EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso Transportation Authority board has hired its first executive director.
The board approved hiring John Andoh as executive director during its meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 26, the organization said.
Andoh is currently serving as the transit general manager for the Redding Area Bus Authority in Redding, California.
The El Paso Transportation Authority (ETA) provides fixed route (ETA Paseo) and ADA paratransit (ETA Access) service in rural El Paso County.
Andoh brings more than 25 years of experience in public transit to the position, the organization said in a news release.
He began his career at just 13 years old as an intern at the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority in San Jose, California. Over the years, he has held leadership roles in transit programs in Hawaii; Columbia, Georgia; Austin; Jackson, Mississippi; and Yuma, Arizona, the ETA said.
Xavier Bañales is currently serving as ETA’s interim executive director.
“John Andoh’s extensive experience and passion for public transit make him the right leader to guide the El Paso Transit Authority into this new era,” said County Commissioner Jackie Arroyo Butler, who serves as board chair for the ETA.
“We are confident that his vision and expertise will enhance mobility for residents in rural El Paso County, ensuring accessible and efficient transportation for all,” Arroyo Butler said.
