EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Women of all ages are encouraged to rock out at the El Paso Community Foundation’s “You Rock! Summer Camp” fundraiser.
Aptly named “Ladies Rock!,” the musical fund-raiser will occur on Saturday, Jan. 18 and Sunday, Jan. 19 at the El Paso Community College Rio Grande Campus, at 100 W. Rio Grande Ave.
The final performance will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 20 at the Love Buzz, at 3011 Pershing Dr.
According to the news release by the El Paso Community Foundation, women who sign up for the rock fundraiser are donating to cover scholarships for the You Rock! Summer Camp — which is described as a transformative musical experience for girls, as well as gender fluid, non-binary and trans youth ages 9-17.
To sign up, the fee is $500 and goes directly to the You Rock! mission. Interested participants can visit this sign-up page or donate to You Rock! by clicking this link.
Participants will receive an instrument and learn how to play, form bands, write an original song and perform in front of a live audience.
In addition to playing music, women who sign up will get to experience teamwork and build confidence during the camp, according to the El Paso Community Foundation.
“We are thrilled to have our inaugural ‘Ladies Rock! Camp’ this January to benefit ‘You Rock!’ It should be a huge amount of fun, and I can’t wait to hear the songs that come out of the experience,” Jim Ward, You Rock! founder and musician said.
