KTSM News – El Paso’s Margin Notes Bookbar: Where books, wine meet

Posted on September 19, 2025

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — For those who are looking for a quiet place to relax, read, and maybe have a glass of wine, Margin Notes Bookbar in West El Paso is the spot for you.

Margin Notes Bookbar, located at 7460 Cimarron Market Ave., Bldg 2, Ste. 300, is the only bookstore in El Paso that has a curated list of wine to choose from.

Margin Notes Bookbar owner Sarah Miller says it’s always been a dream of hers to have all of her favorite things in one spot — that being wine and books.

“When the opportunity came up to take over this place and make it my own, it just seemed like the perfect thing and I really think El Paso needed it, especially by how well it’s doing. I think El Paso needed a space like this to come together and do community and have events. “

The bookstore has a wine and coffee bar attached to it, and it also hosts craft nights every Tuesday and Thursday. They also host a different book club every Wednesday. All events are open to anyone.

On the weekend, the bookbar has different events for the community to get together, such as live entertainment and music. The bookbar also participates in a vendor market once a month.

Miller says the spot offers a curated selection of each genre so that customers don’t get overwhelmed. Genres that are featured include romance, dark romance, sci-fi, true crime, a Spanish selection, and more. Miller says they also take recommendations from the community.

The spot also has “Blind Date with a Book” where a book is wrapped and tailored for customers who don’t know what book to get. The wrapped book comes with a description of what it’s about and goodies.

Miller says they also offer flatbread pizzas, bruschettas, charcuterie boards, and handmade desserts. Miller clarifies that the bookbar is not a dinner spot, but somewhere to have a light brunch, or just a snack, adding that the charcuterie board goes well with a glass of wine.

The bookbar also features a colorful “homey” decor, including used furniture that was “well-loved” which gives the spot that “homey” vibe. The spot also has an outdoor patio with a fireplace.

“You just never know what kind of day somebody is having outside, and if they can come in here and a glass of wine or a book or even our smiles can make them feel a little better, that’s what I want this space to be.”
