EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso’s Public Libraries are partnering with a local grocery store to host a book drive.
Food City with the libraries, will hold a book drive from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 22 at the Food City Ranchland location, 7444 Gateway Blvd. East, according to the news release by the City of El Paso.
For every book that is donated, Food City will donate a package of flour tortillas, limited to one package per customer, the City said.
“We are incredibly grateful to Food City for their generous support in promoting literacy within our community,” said El Paso Public Libraries Director Norma Martinez. “The partnership with Food City helps provide valuable resources to our patrons and fosters a love of reading that will benefit individuals of all ages. Together, we are making a lasting impact on the lives of many and strengthening the bonds within our community.”
The event will have the Public Libraries Bookmobile where visitors can also get a new Enhanced Library Card, the City said. Visitors are also encouraged to donate new book that will be used as prizes for the 2024 Summer Reading Club and for the Dia de los Nños, Dia de los Libros events.
Visitors can check out books on the spot and learn about the free services the libraries offer, the City said.
