EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Public Service Board (PSB) of El Paso Water swore in a new board member on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Hector Ocaranza, a former El Paso City-County health authority and local pediatrician, will undertake an environmental/health role for the organization, according to El Paso Water.

“I am humbled and honored to be appointed to the board because there is a lot of good work that is being done,” Ocaranza said. “I believe my expertise can enrich the already well-represented board.”

Ocaranza succeeds Ivonne Santiago, who served on the board for two four-year terms.

“The PSB is fortunate to have so many talented individuals, and the addition of Dr. Ocaranza brings a new perspective that the board can benefit from,” said John Balliew, president and CEO of EP Water. “His years of public service will be invaluable as we continue our work to meet the needs of our community.”

Ocaranza served as the City-County Health authority for over 16 years and has over 25 years of experience in general pediatrics, according to El Paso Water.

The PSB governs El Paso Water. The PSB consists of the mayor of El Paso and six board members, who are appointed by City Council. Board members serve four-year terms.
