EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPCSO) will host the fifth annual Deputy Peter John Herrera 5K Memorial Run/walk on Sunday, March 23, at Ascarate Park, 6900 Delta Dr.

EPCSO said the check-in will take place from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., followed by an opening ceremony at 7:30 a.m. and the race starting at 8 a.m.
Registration prices are as follows
- Early registration: $30 per person, ended on Feb. 19.
- Late registration: $40 per person, ends March 22.
- Race day registration: $45 per person on the day of the event.
In addition, EPCSO said the first 800 registrants will receive a shirt. However, registrants after Feb. 19 will not be guaranteed preferred size of shirt.

Diamond Badge Sponsorship
- Price: $10,000
- 20 teams in the race (total of five members per team).

- 10 teams in the race (total of five members per team).

Gold Badge Sponsorship
- Price: $1,000
- Two teams in the race (total of five members per team).
- Special sponsor signs on the race path (yard sign).
- Recognition banner as Special Gold Badge sponsor at Memorial Run.
- Company logo on all printed material to include social media.
Silver Badge Sponsorship
- Price: $500
- One team in the race (total of five members per team).
- Special sponsor signs on the race path (yard sign).
- Recognition as a Silver Badge sponsor at Memorial Run.
Bronze Badge Sponsorship
- Price: $100
- One individual entry in the race.
- Special sponsor signs on the race path (yard sign).
Packet pick-up will be from March 17-22 at the EPCSO headquarters located at 3850 Justice Drive.
EPCSO said that from Monday through Friday, the hours for packet pick-up will be from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.; on Saturday, the hours will be from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.; and on the day of the race, the hours will be from 6 a.m. until 7 a.m. at Ascarate Park.
Herrera was killed after being shot during a traffic stop in San Elizario back in 2019. All proceeds will benefit Herrera’s scholarship fund, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
