EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — An El Paso Independent School District (ISD) police officer was recently placed on administrative leave after he was charged with interference with public duties, according to the school district and jail records.
Jail records say Christopher Duran is facing a charge of interference with public duties and was booked into the El Paso County Jail on Monday, Feb. 3. He posted bond and was released the same day.
El Paso ISD has provided KTSM with the following statement following Duran’s arrest. That statement reads as following:
“El Paso ISD is committed to ensuring a safe environment for students, staff, and families. Our focus is on strengthening our police department through the promotion of professionalism, integrity, and accountability. We are actively enhancing our hiring procedures, improving training initiatives, and bolstering oversight to maintain the utmost standards of safety and security. Officer Christopher Duran is currently on administrative leave; we are unable to offer further comment as it is a personnel matter.“
