KTSM News – EPISD OKs one-time $500 payment to employees

Posted on November 19, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Eligible employees with the El Paso Independent School District will be getting a one-time $500 bump in pay.

The EPISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the $500 one-time payments during its meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 19.

The extra pay will be disbursed on Dec. 13, as part of the district’s efforts to “recognize and reward the hard work of its employees,” the district said in a news release.

The one-time payment was approved for all pay grades up to and including the director level. The estimated amount will be $3.6 million, funded through the General Operating Fund, the district said.

Here are some key details:

• Eligibility: Employees hired by the district on or before Nov. 1, 2024.

• Employment Status: Employees must be on a permanent (non-temporary) employment status.

• Exclusions: Stipend eligibility excludes executive director level and above.

• Fiscal Impact: The one-time payment will not carry over into the 2025–2026 school year.

“This one-time payment demonstrates our commitment to acknowledging the invaluable contributions of our employees,” Superintendent Diana Sayavedra said. “Their hard work and dedication to our students deserve recognition and appreciation.”
