EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Fabens Independent School District (Fabens ISD) Board of Trustees unanimously approved Dr. Rogelio Segovia as the new superintendent on Thursday, Nov. 21, according to a press release from the school district.
The school district says Segovia was named the lone finalist for the position in October while serving as the assistant superintendent. The board then observed a mandatory 21-day waiting period before finalizing his appointment.
Before joining Fabens ISD, Segovia spent six years as the associate superintendent for San Elizario ISD since 2018. His prior rules included assistant principal at Ann M. Garcia-Enriquez Middle School for over five years and special education teacher, elementary principal, and secondary principal, according to the school district.
Segovia has a bachelor of science in social psychology, two master’s degrees in counseling and educational leadership, and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction and educational leadership, according to the school district.
