KTSM News – FBI El Paso recognizes National Police Week

Posted on May 13, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The FBI El Paso Field Office is honoring and recognizing fallen officers during National Police Week.

The FBI El Paso Field will be remembering four officers who’ve died in the line of duty, according to the news release by FBI El Paso.

“This week, as we observe National Police Week, we remember our fallen colleagues in law
enforcement. I would personally like to thank our law enforcement partners in the West Texas Region for their work, dedication, and sacrifice. We stand together every day as we work together to fight violent crime, keep illegal drugs off our streets, to keep children safe from predators, and thwart terrorists,” said Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s El Paso Field Office John Morales.

According to FBI El Paso, in 1962, Congress enacted a joint resolution signed by President John F Kennedy, declaring May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day to honor law enforcement killed in the line of duty. The resolution was also later used to create National Police Week.
