KTSM News – Fire on Mescalero Apache land forces some evacuations

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The Seven Springs Fire, burning on the Mescalero Apache Reservation, is forcing the evacuation of some residents, the tribe reported on social media.

The fire, estimated at 200-plus acres, is burning in the Nogal Canyon area of the reservation and residents there have been told to evacuate.

It is not clear how many people that includes but the tribe said the evacuation order is only for Nogal Canyon.

Multiple agencies have responded to the fire. 

The Village of Ruidoso said the fire is not threatening the Village at this time, but smoke is visible.
