KTSM News – Former EPPD officer with history of assault officially fired

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Joshua Anthony Gallardo, the former El Paso Police officer who allegedly choked and punched a woman while he was driving back in 2023, was terminated on Thursday, March 27, according to a spokesperson with the El Paso Police Department.

As KTSM previously reported, Gallardo allegedly choked a victim while driving his truck and punched her multiple times in the face in July 2023.

According to jail records obtained by KTSM, there were three filings against Gallardo in 2024 and three in 2025.

Gallardo was placed on administrative leave last year, according to police.

Police said he was a two-year veteran assigned to the Mission Valley Regional Command Center.
