EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Deshawndre Washington, Doctor Bradley, and Kim Aiken Jr., the three former New Mexico State men’s basketball players accused of multiple accounts of sexual assault in a series of alleged hazing incidents during the 2022-23 season, appeared virtually before a Las Cruces judge on Monday.
All three of their attorneys went before a judge to request an extension to the August 29th pre-trail interview deadline.
The attorneys of Bradley and Washington also requested an extension past the scheduled October 21 trial date.
Not all attorneys are on board with the request for an extension, though.
Aiken Jr.’s attorney argued that the judge should exclude a list of 13 witnesses that were added more than six months after the indictment came down against Aiken Jr. The attorney also argued that any delay in the trial would negatively impact her client’s ability to continue playing basketball overseas.
The judge says he will make a ruling at a later date.
