EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Former UTEP football running back and Parkland High School graduate Deion Hankins is heading to Texas State for his final year of eligibility.
Mike Craven of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football was first to report the news on Sunday.
Hankins later posted a picture of him suited up in Texas State gear.
Hankins spent five seasons playing for his hometown’s college football team. During his career at UTEP, Hankins played in 45 total games. He collected 2,604 rushing yards and 23 rushing touchdowns on 548 carries. Hankins best year came in the 2023 season when he rushed for a career-high 812 yards on 157 total carries. Hankins also tallied five rushing touchdowns in the 2023 campaign.
Hankins will now take his talents to Texas State, a program that has gotten other former Miners there for the upcoming season. Hankins will join fellow former UTEP running back Torrance Burgess Jr. and former UTEP running backs coach Barrick Nealy in San Marcos.
