EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Gadsden Independent School District has a vacancy on its school board and is seeking community members to fill the vacant seat in District 4, the district said on Friday, June 13.
School Board Member Andrew Moralez resigned effective June 5. In his resignation letter, he did not give a reason for his resignation.

“Serving the students, families and staff of this district has been one of the most meaningful and rewarding experiences of my career,” Moralez wrote. “I am proud of the work we have accomplished together to promote equity, transparency and academic opportunity across our schools.”
Moralez has served on the board since September 2024.
The district said he “served with dedication and commitment to the students and families of the Gadsden ISD community.”
The district is now seeking qualified candidates to fill the vacant District 4 seat. Interested individuals must reside within District 4 and be a qualified voter in the State of New Mexico. Applicants are asked to submit a formal letter of interest. Submissions will be reviewed by the current members of the Board of Education, and selected candidates will be interviewed prior to final consideration and appointment during a special board meeting scheduled for Tuesday, July 2.
Letters of interest must be received no later than June 30.
