EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Gadsden Independent School District (GISD) is inviting the community to its first annual “E-STEM-OS Unidos” STEM Festival.
The festival takes place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14 at Gadsden High School, located at 6301 NM-28 in Anthony, New Mexico.
The STEM festival is a “dynamic celebration of student innovation, creativity and excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics,” GISD said in a news release.
According to GISD, the festival’s mission is to “prepare students for challenges and opportunities of the 21st century by fostering a culture of inquiry, exploration and innovation.”
The all-day and free event is to present students from across the district in various competitions, such as LEGO building challenges, drone races, eSports tournaments, culinary arts competitions, and graphic design showcases.
In addition to the competitions, students will also present their projects in a “Shark Tank”-style competition to highlight their ingenuity and problem-solving skills to a panel of experts.
Guests at the festival can enjoy live music and dance performances from the Gadsden Middle School Band, Desert View Ballet Folklorico, and the Gadsden High School Steel Drum Band.
