EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Gadsden Independent School District says it is searching for an individual to fill the vacancy on its Board of Education representing District 4, the district said on Monday, Aug. 12.
The school district says the eligibility requirements for the vacancy position are the following:
Must be a qualified elector in the state of New Mexico
Must physically reside within Gadsden ISD boundaries, specifically District 4 at the time of appointment
Must not have been convicted of a felony unless pardoned or political rights have been restored
The school district says following the appointment, the appointee will be required to run for the position in the next regular school board election to continue serving.

The district said Daniel Castillo resigned because a close family member accepted a job with the district.
