KTSM News – Holiday closures, schedule changes across the Borderland

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — In observance of the winter holiday/break, these are some of the closures and/or schedule changes across the Borderland.

City of El Paso

In observance of the December holiday season, the City of El Paso administrative offices will be closed on Monday, Dec. 25. and Monday, Jan. 1.

The City will host a regular City Council meeting at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3 at City Hall, 300 N. Campbell. 

The following services and facilities will be closed on Monday, Dec. 25. and Monday, Jan. 1:

The Greater El Paso Landfill and Citizen Collection Stations.

Regular hours resume Tuesday, Dec. 26 and Tuesday, Jan. 2.

Animals Services   

City COVID-19 Vaccination Sites   

Immunization Clinics   

Municipal Court/Bond Offices   

Museum of Archaeology, Museum of Art, and Museum of History   

One-Stop-Shop   

Public Libraries   

Rawlings Dental Clinic   

Recreation Centers, Senior Centers, and Aquatic Centers   

STD & HIV Prevention and Surveillance   

WIC Offices   

El Paso Zoo and Botanical Gardens will be closed on Monday, Dec. 25and Tuesday, Dec. 26. The Zoo will be closed Monday, Jan. 1 and Tuesday, Jan. 2.  

Sun Metro will run on Sunday Schedule on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. The El Paso Streetcar will not provide service on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day. 

Doña Ana Community College:

All DACC centers and campuses will be closed beginning Friday, Dec. 22 through Monday, Jan. 1st. Campuses and centers will re-open for regular hours on Tuesday, Jan. 2.  

DACC says they will also be closed on Monday, Jan. 15 in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Socorro Independent School District:

Socorro ISD will have student and teacher early release day on Friday, Dec. 15. The early release schedule is:

Elementary & PK-8 schools – 11:45 a.m.

Middle schools – 12:05 p.m.                      

High schools – 12:55 p.m.      

Socorro ISD facilities and schools will be closed for the winter break from Monday, Dec. 18, through Monday, Jan. 1. Staff professional development will be Tuesday, Jan. 2 and Wednesday, Jan. 3. Classes for students will resume Thursday, Jan. 4.

El Paso Public Libraries

The El Paso Public Libraries will switch to a modified schedule starting Monday, Dec. 18, to allow for the observance of the Winter Holiday season.   

The temporary holiday hours of operation at all branch libraries are as follows:  

Dec. 18 – 22: Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Dec. 23 – 25: Closed  

Dec. 26 – 30: Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  

Dec. 31 – Jan. 1: Closed  

All the branch libraries will return to their regular schedules beginning Tuesday, Jan 2.

Branch libraries will continue to provide family-friendly events and programs during the modified holiday schedule.

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso:

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso will be closed on Monday, Dec. 25, and Tuesday, Dec. 26, in observance of winter break and will resume normal operations on Wednesday, Dec. 27.

TTUHSC El Paso will also be closed Monday, Jan. 1, in observance of the New Year and will resume normal operations on Tuesday, Jan. 2.

This includes TTUHSC El Paso libraries, all Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso clinics and the Texas Tech Dental Oral Health Clinic.

El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

The El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce announces its winter break and holiday hours:

EPHCC will be closed on the following dates:

• Dec. 25 (Christmas Day)

• Dec. 26 (Observance of Christmas)

We will resume normal operations on:

• Dec. 27

• Dec. 28

Additionally, the Hispanic Chamber will be closed on:

• Jan. 1 (New Year’s Day)

Normal operations will resume on:

• Jan. 2
