EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Crimes Against Persons unit responded to a homicide that was initially called in as a home invasion early Thursday moring, Feb. 29 in East El Paso.

El Paso Police Department’s Public Information Officer Sgt. Robert Gomez said at 2:25 a.m., police responded to a call in reference to a home invasion at the 11600 block of Gordon Bays Drive in East El Paso.
Gomez said police arrived at the scene and discovered someone had broken into the home.
Gomez said there was an altercation between two males inside the home.
Gomez said one of the males was stabbed and the other received stab injuries.
Both of them were transported to a local hospital and one of them has died as a result of his injuries.
Gomez said the male that died is believed to be the supect in the home invasion and was 27-years-old.
Gomez said the other male involved in the altercation suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Gomez the area will be closed for six to eight hours and the investigation is ongoing.
Gomez also said there is currently no threat to the public.
