EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Opportunity Center for the Homeless had close to 1,000 participants in their 11 annual HomeRun for the Homeless 5k Run/Fun Walk and Kids’ Dash.
According to the Opportunity Center, the event was a fundraiser for essential funds and awareness of El Paso’s homeless situation in partnership with the El Paso Chihuahuas.
“We are elated by the community’s outpouring of support for our mission,” said Ray Tullius, founder and executive director of the Opportunity Center for the Homeless. “The success of this event highlights the community’s commitment to making a difference in the lives of those in need.”
According to the Opportunity Center, the funds will also support various homeless programs, such as the Homeless Veterans Transitional Living Center, which provides housing and counseling services, and the Veteran’s Shelter, which offers temporary housing and support services.
