EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – A Horizon City man was recently arrested for physically assaulting an 11-year-old girl, the Horizon City Police Department announced on Thursday, Feb. 27.
Jaime Estrada-Alvidrez was arrested at his place of employment and subsequently booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a felony charge of injury to a child, with a $15,000 combined bond, Horizon PD said.
Horizon PD said that on Thursday, Feb. 20, an 11-year-old girl told an educator that she had been physically assaulted by Estrada-Alvidrez.
Following the allegations, Child Protective Services (CPS) contacted Horizon PD, prompting the initiation of a criminal investigation, Horizon PD said.
Horizon City Criminal Investigation Detectives, in collaboration with CPS, determined that the victim sustained injuries, including temporary hearing loss and head trauma, Horizon PD said.
Horizon PD said evidence collected by detectives, including a forensic interview and a medical evaluation, supported the allegations. Detectives then obtained an arrest warrant for Estrada-Alvidrez, Horizon PD added.
“The Horizon City Police Department remains unwavering in our commitment to safeguarding our community, particularly its most vulnerable members, which includes children,” said Chief of Police Marco Vargas.
