EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – A 17-year-old teen was arrested and charged with credit card/debit card abuse after using a stolen debit card at a Whataburger early Monday morning, March 11, according to the Horizon City Police Department (HCPD).
HCPD says that at 2:51 a.m. Monday, March 11 officers responded to the Whataburger located at 13910 Horizon Boulevard about a fraudulent use of a debit card.
Officers were advised by the victim that he had received a notification from his bank stating that his card had been used at a Whataburger, according to HCPD.
HCPD says the victim told officers that he then discovered his wallet had been stolen from his vehicle sometime during the night and did not know who it might have been.
Officers conducted their investigation, and with the help of Whataburger employees, identified Elijah Rivers, 17, and his vehicle of being at the restaurant and using the card to pay.
Rivers was found at his home along with the vehicle described by witnesses. He was arrested without any further incident.
Rivers was transported to the El Paso County Detention Facility by HCPD and given a $2,000 personal recognizance bond.
