EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 21-year-old man who was wanted by U.S. marshals was arrested during a traffic stop over the weekend, Horizon City Police said.
Jonathan Jose Macias, 21, was arrested on Friday, Aug. 22 after officers did a traffic stop and learned that he had a warrant for probation violation related to migrant smuggling.
Horizon Police said that they conducted a traffic stop just before 7 a.m. on Aug. 22 along the 14000 block of Horizon Boulevard.
Officers then conducted a warrants check of the driver, identified as Macias.
Macias was cited for the traffic violation and placed under arrest. The U.S. Marshals Service requested custody, and the Horizon City Police Department transferred Macias without incident.
“This case serves as a reminder of the importance of safe driving and routine enforcement in keeping our community secure. Traffic stops not only address roadway safety but can also help identify individuals wanted on serious charges,” Horizon Police said.
