EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — For those looking for an Italian fresh take on pizza in El Paso, Deserto Palo Verde is the place for you.
El Paso natives Brooke Taylor and her husband Alan Del Hierro co-own Deserto Pizzeria, 2829 Montana Ave Bldg. B, in Central El Paso and Deserto Palo Verde, 7845 N Mesa St. B, in West El Paso.
Deserto Pizzeria has been around for two years, and Deserto Palo Verde has been around for one year.
Taylor says she takes care of the front of the house, while her husband is the chef and takes care of the food.
Taylor says the menu is slightly larger at the Westside location, as they offer a greater variety of things.
The Westside location also offers inside seating and a cozy patio that is perfect for hanging out with friends or on a date.
The business offers neo-Neapolitan-style uncut pizzas made from scratch, with dough that has been fermented for a minimum of 48 hours, house-made sauce, and a careful selection of toppings that come together to create a nice flavor.
The business is known for its “hot stuff” pizza, its carbonara pizza, and on the Eastside, the “Tejas” (Texas) pizza is also popular.
The “hot stuff” comes with pepperoni and serrano peppers, which is a hotter take on a classic pizza that’s well-liked in El Paso – pepperoni and jalapenos.
The carbonara pizza comes with a white buttery carbonara sauce paired with crispy pancette and mascarpone dollops.
The “Tejas” pizza features a take on BBQ and comes with smoked meat, which is only available in the Eastside.
The Westside location also offers Enzo’s polpettes, charred broccolini, roasted caprese with burrata, and the peach di carma.
Enzo’s polpettes feature handmade meatballs with homemade rich tomato sauce and topped with pecornio romano.
The roasted caprese with burrata features tomatoes, creamy burrata, basil, and house-made bread.
The peach di carma features an arugula salad with roasted peach, prosciutto, topped with burrata, honey, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze.
Both locations also offer an open kitchen with a wood-fired oven that creates an inviting environment.
Both locations are closed on Mondays.
The Westside location is open from Tuesday through Wednesday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The Central location is open Tuesday through Saturday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
