EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Jungle Reef Aquarium, a privately owned and operated aquarium and petting zoo at the former Sunland Park Mall, passed its latest inspection by the U.S. Department of Agriculture last month, according to documents obtained by KTSM.
“No non-compliant items” were found during the inspection which happened on Oct. 8, according to a USDA report.
Jungle Reef, located at the Shoppes of Solana, bills itself as El Paso’s “hands-on aquarium.”
This inspection compared favorably to the August one in which the death of two animals were reported as well as issues with improper feeding and incomplete animal care records.
In the October inspection, there fewer animals that were inspected including ducks and chickens. It is unclear from the report whether Jungle Reef still has those animals or if they weren’t part of the inspection.
