KTSM News – Landfill workers find severed body parts in trash

Posted on August 30, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) – Employees of the Juarez, Mexico, municipal landfill for the past two days have been finding severed human parts in trash.

Around noon on Thursday, the workers at the Relleno Sanitario facility in south Juarez reported to police they had found a leg and a man’s torso amid the refuse delivered by city sanitation trucks. On Friday, the workers reported another leg found near the entrance to the landfill off the Pan American Highway.

The Chihuahua Medical Examiner’s Office retrieved the remains for identification. On Friday afternoon, the State Investigations Agency (AEI) issued a statement saying the body parts found in different areas of the landfill belong to a single individual.

The ME’s Office found “it is a man of undetermined age […] with several tattoos, including one with the word ‘Familia’ (Family) and one with the word ‘Veronica.’”

A chest tattoo consisted of a face over a firearm, and one of the legs had the initials “DGS” inked on it. A cause of death is pending.

Officers at the scene told Border Report news partner ProVideo the body was dismembered and parts likely placed in trash bags deposited in random bins later picked up by sanitation trucks.

A video shows how landfill workers point state police officers and Mexican soldiers to the location of one of the finds.
