EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Las Cruces City Manager Ifo Pili has accepted an offer to become a city manager in another state and is set to depart in March, according to the City of Las Cruces.
“I have been honored to lead the City of Las Cruces for the last several years. It has been a privilege to work with a committed City Council and move their vision forward. I am proud of the work the staff has done, and I know I will be hearing more about their future accomplishments,” Pili said.
The City says Pili has overseen “substantial growth” during his three year tenure by expanding the workforce to over 1,800 employees and managing a udget increase to $519 million for Fiscal Year 2024.
“His tenure has witnessed the initiation of numerous General Obligation Bond projects and the establishment of key programs, including the LiftUp Las Cruces initiative and the Mobile Integrated Health unit for the Fire Department,” the City said.
Internal applications for the city manager position are currently being accepted and the Las Cruces City Council will be responsible for hiring a new city manager, with interviews expected to beign in March, according to the City.
“An announcement on the selection of the new City Manager is anticipated at an upcoming City Council meeting, as the City Manager is the only position hired directly by the Las Cruces City Council,” the City said.
