KTSM News – Las Cruces Diocese says ‘no evidence’ they were hacked

Posted on October 24, 2025

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Roman Catholic Diocese of Las Cruces said there is no evidence that they were hacked and that their network remains secure.

KTSM received a tip from a concerned viewer saying that they were worried that the diocese’s financial records had been hacked.

The Las Cruces Diocese said it immediately began an investigation when it learned that financial records belonging to it may have been accessed without authorization.

Here is the statement the Diocese sent to KTSM:

“Upon becoming aware that financial records belonging to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Las Cruces were potentially accessed without authorization, the Diocese promptly began an investigation and notified state and federal authorities.  Our investigation is ongoing.  The Diocese has no evidence to suggest that its systems have been hacked, and is confident that its network is secure.  The Diocese will continue to investigate and take appropriate action.”
