EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – A 54-year-old California man is dead after a three-vehicle crash that occurred on Sunday evening, Feb. 2, in Las Cruces.
Las Cruces Police said that shortly after 9 p.m. on Feb. 2, officers were called to the report of a three-vehicle crash on the 900 block of North Valley Drive.
Traffic investigators learned that a Nissan Armada was traveling north on Valley Drive at a high rate of speed when it rear-ended a Chevrolet Malibu, Las Cruces Police said.
Las Cruces Police said the crash caused the Malibu to enter the southbound lanes of traffic where it sideswiped a Ford Mustang. The Armada went off the roadway and struck a building.
The Armada’s driver, identified as Michael James Massa, 54, from California, was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries, Las Cruces Police said.
Las Cruces Police said the driver of the Malibu and two occupants of the Mustang were taken to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
The crash temporarily closed a portion of Valley Drive while police conducted their investigation.
