Posted on October 8, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The Las Cruces Police Department (LCPD) has started domestic violence training for its 54th Police Academy, the department announced in a news release.

The training sessions are running from Oct. 7 to 10 at the Hakes Brothers Homes, 6303 Bayberry Lane, off Sonoma Ranch Boulevard, according to LCPD.

“This essential training is part of the department’s commitment to equipping its cadets with the skills to respond to domestic violence situations, which are often complex and dangerous,” read the news release.

LCPD said cadets will learn how to recognize, respond to and de-escalate incidents involving domestic violence.

The training will provide cadets with the necessary tools on how to address domestic violence cases with compassion and the proper approach to ensure both the safety of victims and the effective resolution of these incidents, according to LCPD.

For more information, contact the Las Cruces Police Department at (575) 528-4200.
