Posted on February 26, 2025

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Las Cruces Police Department (LCPD) is investigating a shooting that occurred Wednesday evening, Feb. 26, near the New Mexico State University (NMSU) campus, Carlos Carrillo with LCPD said.

The call came in at roughly 8 p.m. at the 2100 block of Lynch Drive, a few blocks away from NMSU.

Carrillo said officers responded to a “subject down with a possible gunshot wound.” Preliminary information did not disclose the severity of the wound or if there were any transports.

There is no immediate danger to the public or NMSU, and LCPD’s Criminal Investigations Division is investigating the scene, Carrillo said.

This is a developing story and will be updating you once we learn more.
