EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Las Cruces Police Department issued 61 tickets during a one-hour enforcement period this week.
The targeted enforcement effort took place Thursday, Oct. 16 along Main Street.
Of the 61 traffic citations, 23 were issued to motorists who were speeding, 15 to drivers operating a motor vehicle without proper registration and 12 for driving without proof of insurance.
Other citations issued during the operation were for miscellaneous traffic offenses such as driving without a license, failing to stop at a red light and improper child restraints.
The traffic enforcement operation, held along North Main Street from Picacho Avenue to Interstate 25, began at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16 and lasted about one hour.
Similar traffic enforcement operations will likely be held in the coming weeks, Las Cruces Police said.
