EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Las Cruces Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man they believe is responsible for shooting and critically injuring another man on Sunday afternoon, June 23 along Telshor Boulevard.
Police say they are looking for 30-year-old Sergio Guadalupe Jacquez.
At about 3:30 p.m. Sunday, police were dispatched to a shooting that occurred at an apartment on the 1400 block of South Telshor Boulevard. Officers arrived to find a 36-year-old man unresponsive with at least one gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Investigators say they learned Jacquez was at the apartment with his girlfriend when his friend, the 36-year-old victim arrived. The two got into an argument before Jacquez fired at least one round, striking the victim, police say.
Jacquez allegedly fled from the apartment before police arrived.
Investigators have obtained a warrant for the arrest of Jacquez. The warrant charges Jacquez with attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Jacquez is asked to immediately call police (575) 526-0795. Jacquez may still be armed with a firearm and should not be approached, police say.
