EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The City of Las Cruces wants residents to take part in shaping the future of one of the City’s most popular parks.
The City will conduct a new master planning effort and will have a two public input meetings this week.
The meetings will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, July 18 at Lynn Middle School, 950 S. Walnut St. and at 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 19 at the Farmers and Crafts Market of Las Cruces, 200 block of North Main Street between East Las Cruces Avenue and East Organ Avenue.
Young Park is located at 850 S. Walnut St. and is known for its pond, inclusive playgrounds, paved loop trail, picnic shelters, restrooms, tennis courts and popular fishing area, the City said.
“As Las Cruces continues to grow, it’s important that our public spaces grow with us,” said Katherine Harrison-Rogers, Parks and Recreation planning and construction administrator. “The Young Park Master Plan will help ensure the park meets the evolving needs of the community and remains a welcoming, inclusive space for all.”
The new master plan will guide future improvements and enhancements to the park by evaluating how the space is currently used, identifying challenges, and incorporating public input into a long-term vision, the City said.
