EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Two teenage boys are facing charges in connection with the weekend burglary of a Las Cruces gun shop where more than $30,000 of merchandise was allegedly stolen, Las Cruces Police Department (LCPD) said.
Police say at least two teenage boys burglarized a gun shop at about 4 a.m. on Sunday, June 23 and stole 30 firearms, ammunition and accessories worth more than $30,000.
The incident took place shortly before 4 a.m. on Sunday at the block on 500 N. Telshor Blvd. at Miller Guns and Ammo, according to Las Cruces Police.
Surveillance video obtained by investigators showed the teens arriving in stolen car, according to LCPD.
Later on Sunday, LCPD were dispatched to a report of a person with a gun on the 2300 block of Columbia Ave.
LCPD says upon arriving at the scene, officers located two teens — a 12 year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy — and recovered two of the firearms that were reportedly stolen from the gun shop.
Police received consent to search the 15-year-old’s home where 14 firearms, along with accessories that were stolen, were located.
Investigators say that have located additional missing firearms that were reported stolen as well.
Both teens have been charged with aggravated burglary, breaking and entering and larceny of over $20,000. The 15 year-old teen faces one count of possession of a stolen vehicle.
The Las Cruces Police Department and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms are continuing the investigation.
