EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) —El Hijo del Santo, the legendary silver‑masked luchador who has carried on his iconic father’s legacy for more than 40 years, will headline one of the stops on his farewell tour in El Paso.
The match is set for Sept. 6 at Ascarate Park. The event, promoted by Cinta de Oro Promotions, will benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of El Paso, with 100 percent of the proceeds supporting youth programs across the city.
Anthony Tomasheski, CEO of the Boys and Girls Clubs of El Paso, emphasized the impact of the event. “To have that icon come here to El Paso for his final match and to have it all support our youth, it’s a huge deal,” he said.
The organization operates over 12 clubs and serves more than 1,400 children citywide, including in Segundo Barrio. Tomasheski adds that events like this help sustain programming and engage El Paso’s youth.
Joining El Hijo del Santo in the ring is local wrestler Cinta de Oro.
“I used to dream about wrestling him when I first started,” he said. “So to be part of his farewell, in my own city, it’s a blessing.”
El Hijo del Santo began closing out his career earlier this year, announcing that after four decades in the ring, he’s ready to retire and focus on other parts of his life.
