EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Gold Out El Paso is hosting its annual parade in support of children battling cancer and their families to celebrate their victories and bring awareness to the community.
Gold Out El Paso is a local non-profit organization that helps families of children with cancer by providing funds for their utilities, groceries, toys for the children, or any support they might need during their battle with cancer.
“A lot of times if it’s a two-parent household one parent usually stops working. If it’s a one-parent household it even makes it more difficult. They rely a lot on families, on friend support, we just help with what we can,” said Eileen Montelongo, co-founder of the organization.

They are inviting the community to join them for a parade starting at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25, at UMC’s Visitor Garage.
Multiple law enforcement agencies will drive up to the 5th floor of the garage to greet the visitors waiting there.
“We provide lights and once everyone’s settled we just wave up at the 7th floor, of course the hospital will have lights, they will wave back at us. It’s just very touching, beautiful, emotional. Families that were once on the 7th floor [of the hospital] are with us on the parking garage “, she explained.
