EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A man has been arrested and charged with murder in the shooting death of another man late last year at the Red Sands off-road recreation site, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said.
Angel Gallardo, no age given, was successfully located and arrested Saturday, April 6 by deputies and charged with murder in the Nov. 24 shooting death of 19-year-old Mauricio Elias at Red Sands over Thanksgiving weekend, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Gallardo was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility with a bond of $1 million, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Red Sands (15600 block of Montana Ave.) at about 9:15 p.m. on Nov. 24.
Upon arrival, they found Texas Rescue Patrol paramedics administering CPR to the victim, Elias.
He was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit investigated and identified Gallardo as the person responsible for the shooting death of Elias, the Sheriff’s Office said.
